Maha Shivaratri Celebrations – Arizona All Locations

by Webdesk

Maha Shivratri Festival is celebrated in honor of Lord Shiva and it is believed that Lord Shiva got married to Parvati on this day.  Many however, believe, Shivaratri is the night when Lord Shiva performed the Tandava Nritya - the dance of primordial creation, preservation and destruction.

Mahashivaratri is celebrated on the 13th (or 14th) day of the dark half of Hindu Month of Phalgun (February-March). As the name "Shivratri" means "the night of Shiva", this festival is celebrated generally at night. It is also called ‘the great night of lord Shiva’.

This year Mahashivratri will be celebrated on March 4 and will be extended till March 5.
